Job Summary:
Sanford Health-Ghana is seeking a dedicated and proactive Regional Representative to serve as the focal point for its operations within the Integrated Health Partners (IHPs) program. The Regional Representative will be based at the regional program office and will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating the Private Pharmacies component within the region. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Coordinator/Technical Advisor, ensuring smooth operations and effective implementation of Sanford Health-Ghana’s (SH-G) components at the regional level. This role requires expertise in program management, networking, and coordination, and involves close collaboration with Regional Health Management Teams (RHMT), District Health Management Teams (DHMT), and other local stakeholders.
The Regional Representative will be instrumental in managing field officers, implementing health initiatives, and liaising with key stakeholders to meet program deliverables. Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Coordination and Implementation:
- Serve as the coordination focal point for Sanford Health-Ghana (SH-G) at the regional level for the Private Pharmacy interventions. Ensure that all activities align with the guidance provided by the Project Coordinator/Technical Advisor.
- Share the responsibility of implementing SH-G’s Network of Practice (NoP) component at the regional level, ensuring that program goals are achieved as outlined in the work plans. Coordinate with the Project Management Unit (PMU) to implement strategies for Private Pharmacies and Chemical Sellers.
2. Networking and Relationship Building:
- Network with private pharmacies and chemical shops in the region to provide them with educational resources and materials that support the implementation of the NoP.
- Build strong relationships with regional and district health teams, private sector pharmacies, and other relevant stakeholders to promote collaboration and ensure effective program delivery.
- Act as SH-G’s representative in key stakeholder meetings at both the regional and district levels, ensuring the program is well-represented and aligned with local health initiatives.
3. Field Officer Supervision and Support:
- Play an active role in the recruitment of field officers, collaborating with the Project Coordinator/Technical Advisor to ensure that the team is staffed with capable and motivated individuals.
- Oversee and supervise the work of field officers in the region and districts, ensuring that their activities align with program objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor field office operations, coordinating resources effectively and ensuring field officers have the necessary tools to succeed.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Monitor the implementation of field activities, ensuring that program objectives are met, and key performance metrics are achieved.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on the status of program implementation, including field monitoring activities and evaluations. Ensure that all reporting aligns with approved guidelines and is completed on time.
- Continuously provide updates to the Project Coordinator/Technical Advisor and SH-G Project Team, ensuring alignment with ongoing activities.
5. Compliance and Advocacy:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and policy requirements at the regional and district levels in relation to the operationalization of the NoP.
- Provide technical assistance and advocacy at the regional and district levels, engaging with stakeholders such as the Regional Health Management Team (RHMT), District Health Management Team (DHMT), and local communities to drive the success of the NoP.
6. Additional Responsibilities:
- Take on any other responsibilities as assigned by the Project Coordinator/Technical Advisor, including contributing to program design, participating in stakeholder engagement activities, and identifying opportunities for program enhancement.
Required Experience and Skills:
1. Previous Experience in the Pharmacy Sector:
- Candidates with prior experience in the pharmacy sector are preferred. Experience working with private pharmacies, chemical sellers, or other healthcare providers is highly desirable.
2. Strong Communication and Negotiation Skills:
- The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including health officials, private sector partners, and community leaders.
- Negotiation skills are essential for facilitating partnerships and ensuring alignment among various program participants and stakeholders.
3. Interpersonal and Leadership Skills:
- As a key liaison between SH-G and the region, the Regional Representative must possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate teams across different geographic areas.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and building consensus among multiple stakeholders is critical for success in this role.
4. Familiarity with Reporting Tools:
- Proficiency in using reporting tools and writing comprehensive reports is essential. Candidates should have experience in preparing status reports, evaluations, and progress updates.
- The ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights for program improvement will be an added advantage.
5. Organizational and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong organizational skills are required to manage the day-to-day operations of field officers and other program activities at the regional level.
- Problem-solving abilities are critical for addressing any challenges that arise during program implementation and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
Location:
This position is based in the Northern Part of Ghana, requiring the successful candidate to reside in or be willing to relocate to the region. The Regional Representative will be responsible for coordinating activities across multiple districts within the region, so flexibility and availability to travel are important aspects of the job.
