Job Summary:
Bomarts Farms Limited, a leader in the agribusiness sector, is looking for a dedicated and highly organized Production Supervisor to join their team for immediate employment. The Production Supervisor will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production floor, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to both internal company policies and external regulatory standards. This individual will work closely with the production team to meet quality and safety guidelines, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and report directly to upper management. The successful candidate will also be tasked with optimizing production processes to meet targets and create a safe and efficient working environment.

Minimum Qualification:
- Degree in BSc. Biochemistry, Food Science, or related field.
Experience Level:
- Entry Level (At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, with exposure to food production processes preferred).
Experience Length:
- 2+ years of relevant production supervisory experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Management and Oversight:
- Compliance with Regulations: Ensure all production activities meet both company policies and external regulatory requirements (such as food safety and quality control standards). Make sure production staff understand and adhere to these requirements to maintain compliance at all times.
- Documenting Production Processes: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including equipment usage, resource allocation, and output levels. Ensure all necessary documentation for regulatory compliance is complete and up-to-date.
- Production Efficiency: Ensure the production process is running smoothly, from the availability of raw materials to the timely output of finished products. Continuously monitor workflows and look for areas to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
2. Health and Safety Compliance:
- Occupational Health and Safety: Lead the production team in adhering to occupational health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety training and ensure that all safety protocols are followed, minimizing the risk of accidents or incidents on the production floor.
- Hazard Identification: Proactively identify any potential hazards or safety concerns in the production environment. Take immediate corrective action and implement measures to prevent reoccurrence.
3. Planning and Scheduling:
- Production Scheduling: Develop and maintain an effective production schedule that maximizes the use of resources while meeting production deadlines. Ensure that all materials, equipment, and personnel are available and ready to meet daily and weekly production targets.
- Inventory Management: Ensure the availability of required raw materials and equipment for production. Coordinate with the purchasing and logistics teams to avoid material shortages or delays that could disrupt production schedules.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee routine maintenance of production equipment to ensure it operates effectively. Coordinate with the maintenance team for scheduled repairs to minimize downtime.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
- Team Management: Provide leadership and direction to the production team. Communicate production goals, set clear expectations, and provide regular feedback on performance. Motivate team members to perform at their best and ensure a positive working environment.
- Performance Evaluation: Monitor individual and team performance. Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency. Recognize outstanding performance and address underperformance through constructive feedback.
- Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with other departments, such as Quality Control, Maintenance, and Logistics, to ensure smooth and coordinated operations. Collaborate on problem-solving and decision-making when issues arise that affect production timelines.
5. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
- Immediate Issue Resolution: Identify, diagnose, and resolve production issues quickly and effectively to prevent delays. This includes equipment malfunctions, supply chain disruptions, or any other problems that could impact production output or quality.
- Preventive Measures: Implement preventive measures to avoid recurring problems. Continuously evaluate production processes to identify potential risks and inefficiencies, and develop action plans to address them.
- Reporting and Analytics: Compile detailed reports on production data, identifying trends, inefficiencies, or areas for improvement. Use data analytics to inform decision-making and production optimization efforts.
6. Reporting and Communication:
- Production Reporting: Prepare regular reports on production metrics, including output levels, efficiency, resource usage, and any issues encountered during production. Provide management with timely updates on production status and progress toward goals.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work with other departments to facilitate smooth inter-departmental coordination, especially during audits and reviews. Maintain open lines of communication with management to report any major issues or developments in real-time.
7. Compliance and Efficiency:
- Adherence to IFS Standards: Ensure full compliance with all International Food Standards (IFS) policies and guidelines. This includes maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and environmental sustainability during all stages of production.
- Resource Optimization: Ensure that all production resources, including labor, materials, and machinery, are used effectively and efficiently to meet production targets. Implement strategies to reduce waste and enhance productivity.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in BSc. Biochemistry, Food Science, or a closely related field is required. Additional certifications or training in food production or quality control will be an advantage.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role within a food production or manufacturing environment is required. Experience with regulatory compliance in food production is highly preferred.
