Job Summary:
Maleka Farms is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Audit Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and conducting financial audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing expert financial analysis to support the company’s strategic goals. This role demands strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of accounting principles, and a passion for improving financial processes. The Audit Accountant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the company’s financial reporting and will contribute to risk management and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Audits:
- Conduct Internal and External Audits: Lead and participate in audits of financial statements, ensuring that all reports comply with local regulations and international accounting standards. The Audit Accountant will examine records to verify accuracy and adherence to company policies.
- Evaluate Financial Systems: Analyze financial systems, records, and procedures to identify potential weaknesses or inefficiencies. Recommend corrective measures or process improvements to enhance the company’s financial operations.
- Audit Reporting: Prepare comprehensive audit reports that detail findings, financial discrepancies, and provide clear, actionable recommendations for management. These reports should highlight risks, inefficiencies, and areas for growth or cost reduction.
- Monitor Compliance: Ensure that the company remains compliant with all applicable tax regulations, financial laws, and internal control standards. This involves staying updated on the latest regulatory changes and implementing adjustments where necessary.
2. Financial Data Analysis:
- Review Financial Records: Conduct thorough analyses of financial statements, ledgers, and reports to identify inaccuracies, inconsistencies, or areas for cost optimization. Ensure that the company’s financial reporting is accurate and timely.
- Financial Statements Preparation: Assist in the preparation and review of financial documents, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure that financial information is presented clearly and adheres to accounting standards.
- Risk Assessments: Perform risk assessments to evaluate potential financial risks the company may face. Provide recommendations to mitigate these risks and ensure the protection of company assets.
3. Internal Controls and Process Improvements:
- Evaluate Internal Controls: Review and assess the adequacy of the company’s internal controls over financial reporting and operational processes. Recommend enhancements to strengthen controls and improve the overall efficiency of financial operations.
- Develop and Implement Audit Plans: Assist in the creation of comprehensive audit plans that outline the scope, objectives, and procedures for audits. Ensure that these plans align with the company’s strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Management: Work closely with senior management and other departments to ensure that corrective actions are implemented effectively based on audit findings. Facilitate discussions on process improvements, risk management, and resource optimization.
4. Compliance and Regulatory Standards:
- Ensure Compliance: Monitor the company’s compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and internal policies. The Audit Accountant will be responsible for identifying any deviations from standards and ensuring that corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Documentation Management: Maintain accurate and organized documentation related to audit processes, financial reports, and recommendations. This includes creating audit trails that can be referenced during internal reviews or external audits.
- Support Decision-Making: Provide financial analysis, reports, and insights to support the decision-making process of senior management. This includes helping to assess the financial viability of new projects or business initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Audit Accountant, Auditor, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, auditing standards, and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify and address financial discrepancies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CA are a plus but not mandatory.
