A reputable retail chain with a presence across seven regions in Ghana is currently seeking an Accounts Officer to join its head office team in Accra. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an entry-level accountant to contribute to the financial management and reporting activities of a well-established organization. Minimum Qualification: HND in Accounting or Finance

Key Responsibilities
1. Bookkeeping and Financial Entries
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for the organization, ensuring that all financial transactions are documented and correctly entered.
- Compile financial data to create reports that support effective decision-making by management.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting
- Prepare monthly budgets and forecasts to guide the company’s financial planning and support management in strategic decision-making.
3. Sales and Production Reporting
- Collect, review, and manage daily sales and production reports to maintain an up-to-date record of the company’s financial activities.
- Assist management in understanding sales trends and production costs through clear, organized reporting.
4. Payroll Management
- Oversee the preparation and management of the monthly payroll for all staff members, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
- Calculate and process employee benefits, deductions, and statutory contributions as required.
5. Bank Reconciliation
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations to verify that all transactions are accurately recorded in the bank and company accounts.
- Resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and internal records.
6. Banking Relationships
- Maintain a positive working relationship with the company’s banking partners, facilitating smooth transaction processing and communication.
7. Management Accounts Preparation
- Prepare weekly and monthly management accounts, delivering actionable insights for financial discussions with senior management.
8. Fixed Assets Register
- Compile and manage a detailed fixed assets register, ensuring the proper tracking of all company assets.
9. Statutory Payments and Compliance
- Handle the preparation and filing of all statutory payments, including VAT returns, SSNIT, PAYE, and corporate taxes, ensuring compliance with Ghanaian tax regulations.
10. Additional Financial Support
- Carry out any additional tasks as assigned by the Finance and Admin Manager, contributing to the smooth operation of the finance department.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
- HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A degree in Accounting or progress towards a CIMA, ACCA, or ICA qualification will be advantageous.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year in a finance or accounting role, ideally within a reputable organization.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including experience with bookkeeping and payroll systems.
- Familiarity with financial reporting and budgeting processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
